The US President violated the US Constitution

A Federal Judge has ruled the NSA warrantless wiretapping unconstitutional and snapped President Bush on the fingers by stating:

The president of the United States ... has undisputedly violated the Fourth in failing to procure judicial orders.

Not even Emperor Bush is above the law.

In Soviet US the Government spies on you, pt II

USA Today has managed to find out more about NSA's domestic spying program.

Turns out our fearless leader, Chairman George Bush, lied to us again. In his radio address last December he said he'd authorized the NSA to capture international communication between terrorist suspects. He specifically said only international communication, i.e. calls coming in from abroad or going abroad, are spied on, as if that makes spying on your own citizens any better. He also implied that the spying program was only listening in on terrorist suspects.

Either his definition of terrorist suspect is a little vague, and includes every US resident, NSA went outside of their mandate or Bush is lying through his teeth.

As the USA Today information reveals the NSA has been collecting information about EVERY phonecall made in the United States. All calls. Not just international calls or calls made or received by terrorist suspects. Every single call.

With the help of telecommunications companies the NSA has been collecting information about US residents' phonecalls for years. Citing legal implications only QWest has refused to comply with NSA's request to hand over call information. AT&T, Verizon and Bellsouth are happily letting the Government spy on you with no warrants in sight.

When will the Government stop lying to you? After the next election?

The White House credibility problem

Here we go. Scott McClellan "resigns", Karl Rove is reassigned.

Sure, both of them had a credibility problem outside of the White House, but at least in the case of Scott McClellan, he was forced into that position by his boss.

Too bad you can't reassign the president or the vice president. That's where the credibility problems stem from after all.

George Bush caught lying or being a dumbass, or both

The Associated Press today released a video taped Katrina hurricane readiness planning meeting before the hurricane hit New Orleans. In attendance were among others President George Bush and FEMA Director Michael Brown.

During the meeting several experts gave clear warnings what was about to happen. FEMA Director Michael Brown is seen and heard expressing many concerns that would ultimately get realized. He was clearly stating that New Orleans was not appropriately prepared.

George Bush, on the other hand, reassures the audience that the Federal Government is "fully prepared" to help the local governments during the storm and with the aftermath. Actual events indicate he was either lying through his teeth or didn't know any better, in which case he was just pulling things out of his ass.

Four days later he's interviewed by ABC News and tells the interviewer could anticipate the scope of the storm. THAT is an outright lie. Or he's suffering from a very bad case of short term memory loss.

And yet we have people who still trust this baboon. Incredible.

The Bush Administration is improving communications

Just three hours to inform the President of a serious incident on American soil. This is certainly an improvement over the communications disasters during Katrina.

I wonder if Dick Cheney's vacation home was in New Orleans how fast the word about the levees breaking would've reached the White House.

In Soviet US the Government spies on you

The big story of the week was the revelations in the New York Times over George Bush authorizing warrantless spying of US citizens. In true East German style, President Bush, tried to deflect blame by attacking the messenger and accussed the New York Times of endangering national security by revealing his illegal and unconstitutional acts.

In other, related, news a UMass Dartmouth student was writing a paper on communism for class and tried to borrow Mao Tse-Tung's Little Red Book using the school's interlibrary loan program. Much to his surprise the book was delivered to him in person by two friendly agents of the Department of Homeland Security. Sadly the agents did not leave the book with the student. The article doesn't mention whether the agents returned the book to the library or burned it.

President Bush accepted responsibility on Wednesday for going to war with faulty intelligence.

Well, that's certainly much safer now than before the presidential elections, isn't it.

Bush, Harriet Miers, GTECH, sex and videotapes

Interesting article that comingles George W. Bush, Harriet Miers, GTECH and Texas State Lottery.

Looks like there're some open questions as to the integrity of Miers (and GTECH) during a bit of a scandal in Texas State Lottery during the late 90s. But she was loyal even back then, so I guess it's ok.

Sometimes the answer is just staring you in the face

In a rather astoundingly useless poll by CNN/USA Today/Gallup 49 percent of the US people say Bush is a divider, another 49 percent say he's a uniter and the remaining 2 percent don't care one way or another.

It must have taken superhuman restraint from the CNN editor to keep the obvious conclusion off the writeup.

Meanwhile CNN is working on a poll to study if people think water is wet.

Ohio is a dead heat

At the time of writing Florida appears to have gone to Bush, so Ohio is almost certainly the deciding state.

Right now the votes go as follows:

Bush: 2,245,388
Kerry: 2,112,297

But if you take a look at the county level votes Cuyahoga, the most densely populated county in the state is voting overwhelmingly in favor of Kerry, and only has 76% of the votes counted. Assuming the votes are being tallied at an even pace, there's roughly 100,000 votes left in the county, of which roughly 65% will go to Kerry. That's 30,000 more votes for Kerry than for Bush.

Bush will win Ohio by about 50,000 - 75,000 votes, and will get elected again.

A subscriber to SPAM-L, an anti-spam mailing list, reported receiving spam supposedly from the Bush daughters. Well, it's really from the George W. Bush re-election campaign, but it's signed in the Bush daughters' names.

Bush makes no mistakes. Really?

The second presidential debate is over, and while I think Bush did a better job than in the first one, he still lost. He looked visibly angry most of the time, and was almost yelling his responses to the audience. Very unprofessional.

But the most amazing moment of the debate came with his response to the last question of the night. A member of the audience asked him to name three decisions he has made during his presidency that he, in hindsight, thinks were mistakes and how did he try to correct them.

Bush couldn't name one, other than joking about making mistakes in appointing people. That is truly amazing. Instead he appeared to know the true motivation of the question, and jumped into defending his decision to go to war against Iraq. Seems like the question hit a sore spot to me.

Nevertheless his answer reminds me of something I said a few months back about interviewing job candidates, and let's face it, Bush is interviewing for a job.

Having been interviewing job candidates for a position with my current company, for what feels like forever, questions about mistakes or challenging situations in the past, and what was learned from them, is one of the best questions to use to disqualify candidates.

We had one hero answer the question something along the lines of:

"I look at other people's work, and I see a lot of faults. I've yet to see anything wrong with my work."

He will not be hired. Pity the employer who does.

I pity the US, if Bush is hired.

First Election Debate - Summary on George Bush

That about sums up the message we heard from Mr. Bush tonight. He was defensive, ill prepared to counter John Kerry's arguments and generally did not look comfortable unless quoting prepared statements from memory.
